The school has been running in Szczecin since September 2001. Its Polish name is Prywatna Ogólnokształcąca Szkoła Muzyczna I st. – Leonarda Piwoni w Szczecinie. Pupils follow an eight-year cycle in which the music and general curricula run side by side, as a daytime programme.
The school operates under the pedagogical supervision of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and holds public-school status. Completing it allows pupils to continue at a second-degree music school or at any secondary school of their choice.

Years 1–3
Foundations
Ear training, basics of rhythmics, choir, instrument — first steps in music alongside the full primary school curriculum.
Years 4–6
Development
Ear training, knowledge of music, instrument, choir and orchestra.
After year 6
What the certificate states
The certificate confirms completion of the national core curriculum for year six of primary school. In the field of artistic subjects it is equivalent to a certificate of completion of a first-degree music school.
Years 7–8
Music subjects continue
Ear training, music theory with elements of score editing, study of music, instrument.
After graduation
Two pathways
A second-degree music school, or any secondary school of the pupil's choice.
